Doors Open Days: Castlebank Horticultural Centre

About Doors Open Days: Castlebank Horticultural Centre

Visitors will have the chance to explore the growing compound, see the new rooms available for hire, meet the Educational Gardener and hear about all of the activities and volunteer opportunities at Castlebank Park.

There will also be Nature Activity Sheets for Kids, free copies of the new ‘Castlebank Park Wildflower and Tree Guide’, Plant Sales, Tea & Coffee and a fundraising tombola.

Each day a free ‘Wonderful World of Wildflowers Workshop’ will run at 1pm. This is part of the centre’s Grow Wild project and each participant will receive a free packet of wildflower seeds to take home and plant.

On Saturday 7th September, the centre’s popular ‘Grow your own fruit and veg’ workshop will run at 2.30pm. This workshop costs £5 per person and is expected to sell out, so advance booking is required by calling 01555 728 329 or emailing info@lanarktrust.co.uk

Entry is free to Castlebank Horticultural Centre’s Doors Open Weekend from 11am – 3pm.

Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free festival that celebrates heritage and the built environment. It offers free access to over a thousand venues across the country throughout September, every year.

The aim of Doors Open Days is to ensure that Scotland’s built heritage, new and old, is made accessible to people living and visiting the country on weekends in September.

It is coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust and is part of European Heritage Days alongside Scottish Archaeology Month, coordinated by Archaeology Scotland (formerly known as the Council for Scottish Archaeology).

Both are supported by Historic Environment Scotland.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Doors Open Days: Castlebank Horticultural Centre are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
