For brand new kids there is also a one-off charge of £5 which covers knitting needles, a knitting bag and a folder for special patterns & instruction sheets.
Knitting is both therapeutic and creative for adults and children. The benefits include:-
Brain training - the physical movement of knitting, crossing the mid-line of the body works the brain very hard & encourages the left & ride sides of the brain to work better together. Potentially very good for children with dyslexic type difficulties.
Social & great for shy kids to make friends.
Great for improving fine motor skills and for practising maths.
It is calming and relaxing but at the same time encouraging children to be creative & use their imagination.
It builds confidence as the skill is learned and success with each fun, finished project.
