Local group Lanark Amateur Musical Society are performing 'Our House' the musical at Lanark Memorial Hall from Wednesday 25th - Saturday 28th March 2015.
With catchy songs and a fun-filled story line, a trip to see Our House is the perfect night out that will have you laughing, crying, singing and dancing in the aisles!
First performed at the Cambridge Theatre in 2002, Our House was awarded the Laurence Olivier 'Best New Musical' Award in 2003 and has since toured nationally and internationally to great acclaim - and now the Madness hits Lanark.
As the title suggests, Our House is based on the songs of famous ska-band Madness. During the show audiences can expect to sing along to some of the band's most famous hits including: Wings of a Dove, My Girl, Driving in my Car, It Must be Love, Night Boat to Cairo and Baggy Trousers.
Our House is set in London's famous Camden Town in the mid-90's. The story follows Camden lad Joe Casey who, on the night of his 16th birthday, makes a decision that will change his life. Trying to impress Sarah, the girl of his dreams, Joe breaks into a building development overlooking his home on Casey Street. But things take a turn for the worse as the police turn up. Joe’s life splits into two; the Good Joe who stays and gives himself up and Bad Joe who flees and leaves Sarah to run from the police. The rest of the show follows Joe's life on the good path, and the bad path. Which one will he end up on? You'll have to come and see the show to find out!
"Our House is an energetic, fast moving, musical love story, with an amazingly talented cast, set to the soundtrack of one of the nation's favourite bands, Madness! Come along and support your local musical society, LAMS, as they perform at the top of their game. I'm proud to be part of such a close knit, talented, hard working team!" Alan Taylor, Our House Director.
Lanark Amateur Musical Society have been entertaining the Lanark community since 1979. Over the years they have produced a range of shows including family favourites like Oliver, and modern productions like Return to the Forbidden Planet. The club would love for the people of Lanark and beyond to come and enjoy their production of Our House. The title of the show may not be familiar, but the fantastic songs and story are guaranteed to leave you with a smile on your face.
Tickets for Our House are £12 adults, £10 concessions and £35 for a family of 4. Available to purchase by calling 01555 667999, by visiting the Lanark Memorial Hall Box Office. (Open Mon-Thurs 9am-4.30pm, Friday 9am-4pm, Saturday 9.30am-3.00pm) or by going online at www.sllcboxoffice.co.uk.
