The Festive Taste of Lanark event is all about encouraging the community to shop locally and discovering the wide range of businesses on our doorstep.
The Tolbooth is acting as the 'Festive Taste' hub, and from there you can learn about all of the activities taking place during the day, as well as picking up the free ‘Festive Taste Trail’. A bit like a 'treasure trail for adults', this will lead you on a trail around the town centre enjoying samples and tasty bites along the way! Visit all the stops on the trail and return to The Tolbooth with your completed trail to be entered into a prize draw.
Within The Tolbooth, you can enjoy a variety of fun and games with proceeds going to local charities. Upstairs in the Tolbooth will be a range of local crafters selling their goods, and mince pies & mulled wine will also be on offer.
Entertainment will be provided by Lanark Amateur Musical Society and the Leadhills Silver Pipe Band, who will be playing and singing popular carols and festive tunes in the Tolbooth Square throughout the day.
From 12-2pm some very special frozen guests will be visiting the Tolbooth – Anna, Elsa and Olaf! Come along and have your photo taken with your favourite festive characters for a small donation to local charities.
At 2pm, the fantastic Horse Parade by Scottish Equi Centre will proceed down the High Street – a sight not to be missed! During the parade, we invite you to donate a small gift for a child to be passed on to local charities who support families in need at Christmas. You can hand in your gift to Santa who will be following the horses, or alternatively you can hand it into The Tolbooth.
In the evening, the Tolbooth will play host to a special Whisky tasting event with Robin Laing the Whisky Bard - a true cultural ambassador for Scotch whisky. Tickets £25.00 are now available from The Tolbooth.
The 'Festive Taste' event has been running since 2012, after being started by the Royal Burgh of Lanark Community Council, as a way of encouraging locals and visitors to shop in the town centre.
This event is part of the 'Lanark Winterfest Programme 2018' which includes over 40 festive events taking place in the town over November and December.
