Since 2019, LGBTI+ Elders Social Dance Clubs for the whole rainbow community have been presented around the country and moved online during 2020. These events will culminate in an interactive online event to celebrate LGBTI+ elders across Scotland the UK and internationally: The Coming Back Out Ball
The Coming Back Out Ball is designed to be a gift – one that acknowledges the resilience of this community, a gift of visibility to LGBTI+ elders who have lived through it all, and a safe space for those elders just discovering themselves.
Your hosts for this digital event will be Karen Dunbar and Jamie Rea. The Ball will feature performances from Scottish icon and long-time project supporter Horse, the sensational performance poet Dean Atta, a contribution from Maggie Kinloch and the legendary Jo Clifford will perform a new piece inspired by the project. Look forward to music, dancing and the chance to chat with fellow Ball attendees via your zoom table.
Everyone who attends will get a very special delivery - ‘A Ball in a Box’ in advance of the event, so you really feel that the party is coming to you live in your living room!
Join us on what promises to be a night of real cultural significance, to be socially connected in celebration alongside LGBTI+ elders to dance, reminisce and dream together into the future.
Creative leads: Lewis Hetherington on behalf of National Theatre of Scotland and Tristan Meecham and Bec Reid of All The Queens Men.
National Theatre of Scotland and All The Queens Men co-production, in partnership with Eden Court and Luminate and in association with Glasgow City Council.
