This full-day workshop with natural dyer and textile artist Elisabeth Viguie-Culshaw is suitable for both beginners and those with some natural dyeing experience. This hands-on workshop will get you started with all you need to know to start dyeing at home.
> Find out how to use homegrown or foraged plants to dye yarn and fabric in permanent shades of yellow, blue or green
> Discuss how and where plant material can be gathered sustainably
> Learn about fibre, how to select the appropriate material, and how to prepare and mordant it so that your work becomes colourfast
> Work together to set up a dye bath for yellow dye, and a woad vat for blue dye
> Learn how to overdye to create green from a combination of yellow and blue dye
> Create a selection of small samples in a variety of shades to take home and use in your own projects
