Back To The Dark
'Back to the Dark' is a two-day workshop in traditional black and white photography and darkroom development, led by artist and filmmaker Wilma Smith at Summerlee Photomedia Studio in Coatbridge.
About Back To The Dark
Designed for participants from across North Lanarkshire, the workshop invites those interested in returning to 35mm and 120 medium format film to explore image-making through the theme of Comfort and Disturb. Through storytelling and fine art photography, participants will learn techniques for developing film and creating prints in the black and white darkroom.
This is a chance to slow down and reconnect with the tactile, therapeutic process of analogue photography. Moving away from digital and smartphone cameras, the workshop encourages creative expression and skill-building in traditional photographic methods.
