Part performance, part ceilidh; BLOOM charts the personal journey of dancer Kae Sakurai from Japan to her new home in Scotland.
BLOOM is a dance performance and personal story from Tokyo-born, Scotland based Percussive Step Dancer Kae Sakurai. This lyrical and innovative work blends expressive percussive dance with original music inspired by tradition, complemented by poetic video projections. BLOOM will delight, refresh and inspire.
The performance charts Kae’s new life in Scotland. Beginning with a homage to the City of Glasgow, where she lives now, and ending with a tribute to the enduring image of Japan, the cherry blossom, the sakura, the origin of her family name. Live dance and mesmerising video projections bring together people, music and movement, reflecting a changing life in a new country. BLOOM is a piece about people and place, community and change, finding beauty in the everyday and the joy of dance.
