Cumbernauld Gardening Club recently celebrated our 50th anniversary.
We are a small group of local, amateur gardening enthusiasts. We meet from September to May, once a fortnight, Wednesday evenings at 7.30, in the Greenfaulds community rooms. We also arrange summer day trips to visit gardens of interest around the country.
If you think you would enjoy hearing speakers with a diverse range of talks from propagating or pruning your own plants to plant hunting in Bhutan and would like to meet people who can offer advice about the joys and challenges of gardening in Cumbernauld come along and join our friendly club!
4th February Our 1st speaker of the year is Andrew Hinson, head gardener of Greenbank Garden, a National Trust for Scotland garden in Clarkston.
18th February Our speaker Chelsea Lowe is head gardener at Horatio's Garden, Scotland. The garden opened in 2016 at the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.
4th March John Marshall, the tattie man, returns with tales of his trip to the US.
18th March George Neil will tell us about flowers that are a favourite of many of us - sweet peas.
1st April Peter Hart from Kirklands Garden. When Peter and his wife Gill arrived at Kirklands Garden in Fife over 40 years ago the garden was a blank canvas. We'll hear about their creation of the 2 acre garden which they say is an ongoing project! He will bring plants for sale.
15th April David Buchanan-Cook has lived at Helensbank Garden since 2000 and been involved in the restoration of the house's 18th century walled garden. He is a Trustee of Scotland's Gardens Scheme and his talk will include advice on rose cultivation, a particular passion of his.
29th April Emma Tailford, now of Torwood Garden Centre, returns with more seasonal gardening advice.
13th May AGM and plant sale
Additional Dates: 01 April 2026, 15 April 2026, 29 April 2026, 13 May 2026
