A lambing course is a practical training session designed to help anyone involved in sheep farming feel more confident and prepared for the lambing season.
The focus is on hands-on, real-life scenarios, not classroom theory. Courses are usually led by experienced farm vets, who talk through common situations you’re likely to face during lambing and show how to deal with them safely and effectively.
Typical topics include:
• Recognising the stages of lambing
• Knowing when to intervene; and when not to
• Assisting difficult births
• Common problems in ewes and lambs
• Lamb care immediately after birth
• When to call the vet
Courses are suitable for:
• Farmers
• Farm staff
• Family members helping at lambing time
• Anyone new to sheep or wanting a refresher
They’re especially useful before lambing starts, helping reduce stress, improve confidence, and support animal welfare during a very busy time on farm.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
