The Fountain
About The Fountain
Situated in the heart of the conservation area of the town, The Fountain centre served the community as the Old Lesmahagow Church Hall before being purchased by the Council in 2009.
The refurbishment project has sympathetically restored the building to its former grandeur ensuring that the key architectural features of the building have remained and the venue which reopened in May 2011 now meets the social, leisure and entertainment needs of local people. The Fountain has proved to be very popular with locals and is now busy with various community groups, activities and events every night of the week and at weekends. The venue has played host to numerous social functions including wedding celebrations and family parties. The refurbished venue now caters for a wide range of community and social activities and is also being used by local business and agencies for training, outreach community projects and activities.
In addition, the new adventure soft play area for pre-school children (maximum age 5) which is located on the upper floor of the complex is proving to be very busy both as a drop in facility for parents with young children and by local mother and toddler groups.
Main hall
The Main Hall can accommodate up to 140 people seated theatre style or up to 80 people seated cabaret style for social functions (with space for a band and dance floor area). The hall is finished in light oak wood paneling and flooring with large feature windows complementing the open aspects of the hall. The hall is serviced by a bar and catering kitchen. The Main Hall can be screened off from the rest of the centre by means of a sliding partition to ensure that the customers are not disturbed by other centre users. A portable staging system and modern sound and lighting equipment are also available for use in the Main Hall and other parts of the building.
Meeting rooms
There are two small meeting rooms which are suitable for various activities including group work, training, interviews, arts and craft activities, surgeries and so on. These rooms can be set out with a range of flexible furniture options to meet the needs of the hirer and flipcharts, whiteboards, a projector and audio-visual equipment can also be hired. Groups can also be supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits and other catering requirements as requested at a small charge.
Lesser hall
The Lesser Hall can accommodate up to 40 people seated theatre style and around 25 - 30 seated cabaret style (exact numbers dependent on layout requirements).
Children's soft play area
The upstairs soft play provides an exciting, stimulating and safe environment for young children up to 5 years old (height restrictions apply). The soft play area can be booked for the exclusive use of mother and toddler groups and for birthday parties or other celebrations. Various party packages are available at extremely reasonable rates where the party group can enjoy the soft play area for an hour and then pop downstairs to the lesser hall to continue their party and to enjoy their food. Drop in sessions for children are also be available at certain times (check with staff for current details of drop in session times).
The Fountain can be used for a variety of community, social and commercial activities including but not restricted to Courses and Classes, Arts and Crafts, Sports Activities, Community Meetings, Birthday Parties, Engagement Parties, Discos, Wedding Receptions, Slimming Clubs, Martial Arts etc.
