Air Space – Europe's largest indoor trampoline park – has today announced the unveiling of FREESTYLE FITNESS, a unique fitness class that combines trampolining, parkour and dynamic/static exercises for the ultimate full-body workout.
Designed by YouTube acrobatics and parkour sensation Sam McFarlane, the FREESTYLE FITNESS classes arrive at the East Kilbride venue on July 8th and will be available to all customers aged 16 and over.
The one-hour session, costing just £13, will use all of the facilities available at Air Space and combines multiple fitness disciplines including core-building trampolining exercises and cardiovascular focused parkour and freestyle jumping. The sessions provide benefits for all muscle groups but will particularly improve core strength, muscle definition and cardiovascular fitness. One session has been measured at burning off 500 calories and NASA research shows that 10 minutes of trampolining is akin to 30 minutes of running.
Speaking about the classes, Sam McFarlane said; "I was delighted when Air Space approached me to set up this class and I'm happy to have created this varied and explosive session.
"There's no denying it's hard work, but by using the full repertoire of equipment available at Air Space, it will be good fun too – one of the most important elements of retaining fitness. It's a full-body workout with a real focus on core strength, balance and cardiovascular. There will be some sore tums and bums afterwards, but the toning will be worth it!"
The attraction showcases a spring-loaded urban playground where jumpsters can perfect their freestyle parkour moves in the main arena, jumping from one trampoline deck to the next. They can also test their skills in dodgeball courts, slam dunk hoops and football, all on super-sprung pitches, or try their moves on the air bag crash test site and defy gravity on the wall ramp.
In addition to hours of fun and laughter, if you are a complete bouncing novice, Air Space staff are on hand to offer hints and tips to bring everyone up to speed with one of the UK's fastest growing trends.
Since opening in December last year, the revolutionary £2 million leisure destination has already elicited an incredible response. Hugely popular Stateside and Down Under, the indoor trampolining phenomenon has bounced its way into the UK's consciousness, prompting a rapid Air Space expansion in the coming months.
Until then, East Kilbride – just outside of Glasgow – is the must-visit destination for UK jumpsters. As Europe’s largest freestyle jumping arena, Air Space features more than 100 interconnected, wall-to-wall trampolines in an area over 35,000 square feet.
Since the hugely successful Commonwealth Games, Glasgow has transformed into one of the UK's fastest-growing tourist spots, experiencing a 10% bounce in overall tourism figures last year and a 50% increase in day-trippers in the first months of 2015, with Air Space proving to be one of more colourful attractions.
The price is £13 per session at Air Space. Sessions last one hour and include access to all the equipment. Jumpsters must wear jump socks when they visit.
