Brick City coming to New Lanark summer 2017

See the world in LEGO® Bricks as the iconic Brick City exhibition comes to New Lanark World Heritage Site in the summer of 2017.

Brick City is a celebration of some of the world's favourite buildings and urban icons, recreated solely using LEGO bricks. Brick City has previously been enjoyed by thousands of visitors across the UK and now fans of LEGO young and old will have the chance to catch this must-see exhibition at New Lanark during the summer of 2017.

Evelyn Whitelaw, New Lanark Events & Exhibitions Officer said “We are delighted to welcome the Brick City exhibition to New Lanark to share with the community. It’s a great opportunity for people to view these awesome structures, to join in the fun with our wide range of activities and build their own LEGO brick creations!”

Brick City is comprised of an estimated half-a-million LEGO bricks and features models of famous landmarks such as St. Pancras Station, the London 2012 Olympic Park and the iconic ‘Welcome to Las Vegas’ sign!

While to many, LEGO bricks are 'just a toy', to Warren Elsmore they provide a challenging and enjoyable modelling medium. Warren Elsmore, author and artist in LEGO bricks said “Brick City features landmarks built of LEGO bricks from all over the world, including ten World Heritage Sites, but this will be the first real-life World Heritage Site it has visited - and hopefully not the last!”

2017 marks the Visit Scotland Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology making it the perfect time for New Lanark to host Brick City which includes a variety of historical icons like the Mona Lisa and landmarks including the Colosseum in Rome, Arc De Triomphe in Paris and Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

To coincide with the exhibition New Lanark will be planning a fun programme of activities – the details of which along with the exhibition dates, prices & other details will be available at the beginning of 2017.
