Scotland’s largest conservation charity has organised Easter egg trails from Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April 2024 at its places stretching from Brodie Castle in the Highlands to Priorwood Gardens in the Scottish Borders, with further information on each trail available on the Trust’s website.
With over 100 iconic countryside, cultural and heritage places in its care, the Trust is offering families and others across Scotland the perfect opportunity to take part in one of the Easter egg trails and explore the many other gems the Trust looks after across Scotland at the same time.
Ian McLelland, National Trust for Scotland Regional Director for the South and West, said: “We’re excited to welcome families to our Easter egg trails across the length and breadth of the country, with 35 trails taking place at the special places in our care. Each trail offers something completely different providing the perfect excuse to experience more than one and make treasured memories with family and friends, while supporting the Trust’s work to protect and share Scotland’s nature, beauty and heritage now and for future generations to enjoy.
“Visitors can take in the beautiful spring colours and immerse themselves in nature during the trails, where they can flex their puzzle-solving skills by following clues to earn a delicious Easter treat, the perfect activity to keep youngsters entertained during the school holidays. Most of our Easter egg trails can be booked in advance, with each trail costing £4 with accompanying adults going free. There’s guaranteed fun for all the family, so make this Easter one to remember and share in the amazing adventures that await with the National Trust for Scotland this spring.”
This year, eager Easter egg trail-blazers will be rewarded with an allergen free chocolate egg made by B-Corp certified Moo Free. The family-owned company based in the UK uses 100% renewable energy in its factories to make its delicious chocolate products using Rainforest Alliance cocoa with recyclable packaging.
Andrea Jessop, CEO of Moo Free says: “We’re delighted to be partnering with National Trust for Scotland this Easter. This time of year can often be frustrating for those who suffer with allergies or follow a vegan diet, but our mission is to ensure that no one feels left out. Moo Free offers a safe product that everyone can enjoy without compromising on taste. We have sourced the highest quality cocoa to create our delicious Easter Eggs that are free from dairy, gluten and soya, allowing everyone to join in on the fun this Easter at National Trust locations across Scotland.”
Those wishing to make more of their visit and explore some of the other special places in the Trust’s care, as well as discover the country’s spectacular landscapes, are encouraged to consider booking one of the many holiday lets offered by the National Trust for Scotland. Holiday lets can be booked via the Trust’s website, www.nts.org.uk/holiday-accommodation, and can accommodate families and groups as well as furry canine companions with various properties on offer to suit a variety of tastes.
The Easter events support the National Trust for Scotland’s vision to care for, share and protect Scotland’s nature, beauty and heritage for everyone to enjoy, as outlined in its 10-year strategy, launched in 2022. These events help to deliver its engagement objectives to provide access and enjoyment for everyone.
Plans have been agreed for the redevelopment of the centre to create a near net zero health hub. This will include improved facilities for visitors and a reduction in carbon emissions by 90%.
