Following a full refresh, staff prepare to reopen with a full performing arts and entertainment programme at Airdrie Town Hall, with a diverse range of events including drama, music, comedy, and cinema for 2024 and beyond.
The team were joined by Provost Kenneth Duffy and Councillor Jim Logue this week to mark the venue reopening, which will officially welcome audiences to a new what’s on programme of events, starting with the Easter pantomime, Rumpelstiltskin.
Council Leader Jim Logue, explained: “The reopening of Airdrie Town Hall marks a significant milestone for our community. We're thrilled to be able to unveil a vibrant new programme of entertainment for 2024, showcasing the diverse talents of our area.”
The venue offers a large main hall and balcony which seats up to 475 people, and up to 600 people for standing events. The lesser hall is situated on the upper level of the facility and has a capacity of 130.
Provost Kenneth Duffy added: “The revival of Airdrie Town Hall as an arts and entertainment venue will be hugely welcomed by our residents.
“Audiences will really enjoy the enhanced facilities and with so many great live shows coming up, visitors will be in for a treat.”
Craig Smart, Creative Resources and Assets Manager at North Lanarkshire Council, said: “The venue had a full refresh in recent months to prepare for a packed programme of performing arts and entertainment events.
We have made improvements to the PA, sound, and lighting systems, to ensure a high-quality experience for our audiences, and relocated our box office team to be on site for customer enquiries and to welcome the residents of North Lanarkshire and beyond. We can’t wait to fill the venue once again with comedy, family entertainment, music and more.”
The new programme of events will start with Rumpelstiltskin, starring Ian ‘Sheepie’ Smith, from Wednesday 10 to Sunday 14 April. Later in April, audiences can enjoy a live 1980s multi-tribute concert with 80’s Mania on Saturday 20 April, or take a sentimental journey down memory lane with The Doris Day Story on Wednesday 24 April.
Cinema Live screenings continue at Airdrie Town Hall with MacMillan Celebrated on Tuesday 9 and Sunday 14 April, and Swan Lake on Wednesday 24 and Sunday 28 April.
