South Lanarkshire Crematorium will host its annual Christmas memorial service this weekend.
And, a warm welcome is extended to all to join the event on Sunday, 2 December at 2pm, led by Father Dominic Quinn of St Leonard's RC Church, East Kilbride, and Rev Ross Blackman of Hamilton Old Parish Church.
The service has become a special one for many, creating an opportunity for local people to come together as the season of Christmas approaches, and remember those they have lost.
Participants can light a candle or place a message on the Christmas tree, and the crematorium will remain open until 4pm for anyone who wants to drop in simply to do this.
Light refreshments will also be provided.
Councillor Robert Brown, Chair of the council’s Community and Enterprise Resources, said: “This event provides a special way to remember at a time of year when our losses are often felt the most.
"Whether your loved one has been buried or cremated, our service sets out to make remembrance special, creating a time for quiet reflection in a season where there is so much going on around us.
“We extend a warm invitation to anyone who could benefit from visiting the crematorium in what is a dignified, peaceful, and personal space to honour and remember. The team there will be on hand to offer any support if needed.”
For more information, call 0303 123 1016 or visit the crematorium page on the council’s website.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
