The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world's most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including Climb Ev'ry Mountain, My Favourite Things, Do Re Mi, Sixteen Going on Seventeen and the title number, The Sound of Music it won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars for the film adaptation.
The inspirational story, based on the memoirs of the real life Maria, follows an exuberant postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of imperious Captain von Trapp - and follows her story as she brings music and joy back to their household. While winning the hearts of the children - can it be that Maria will lose her own heart and find a love that takes both her and the widowed Captain by surprise? What will become of the von Trapp family as the dark forces of Nazism take hold of their beloved Austria, and how can they make a stand against the evil they face?
