Join us in Lanark town centre for a fabulous day of medieval activities and see history come alive!
Our exciting programme is all free and highlights include:
• Fight a Knight
• Medieval Combat demonstrations with the Infernal Unicorns and the Glasgow Swordbreakers
• Medieval games, children's activities and face painting
• Displays of Weapons and Armour
• Life in Medieval Times Demonstrations & Workshops including Blacksmithing, Arrow-Making, Pottery Decoration, Lace Making and Basket Weaving
• Medieval Societies - The Society of John De Graeme and The Society of William Wallace
• Meet the Dragon and Medieval Lady as they explore the town
• Exhibition of Medieval Weapons, Armour and Clothing in the Tolbooth
Activities will take place in Hunter's Close car park, the Tolbooth and Wallace House. Parking is free in all public car parks.
Whilst you’re in the town centre, visit Wallace House and find out all about William Wallace’s time in Lanark! This outdoor art and heritage space features spectacular Wallace murals by acclaimed artist Rogue-One, a specially commissioned poem by local bard Les Hunter, a cartoon strip by Horrible Histories illustrator Kate Sheppard, a giant replica Wallace Sword by Josef and Denisa Gara and lots of information about Wallace’s life and his time in Lanark.
Please also take the time to explore our array of local shops, cafes and eateries, and have a fabulous fun day in Lanark!
