We are delighted to see the return of the fabulously talented US duo, Beki Hemingway and Randy Kerkman, to the Granary- at the Town Mill Strathaven.
Beki Hemingway is an American singer-songwriter known for her warm storytelling and rootsy melodies. Originally from Colorado, Beki and her musical partner and husband, Randy Kerkman, made the bold move to Ireland in 2016 in search of new musical adventures and meaningful service work. They’ve since settled in the town of Dundalk, where they’ve continued writing, recording, and connecting with audiences both locally and abroad. Their latest release, Earth and Asphalt, marks a rich chapter in Hemingway’s journey—an album steeped in personal transformation, road-tested resilience, and observations shaped by years of travel and introspection.
Despite their Irish surroundings, Earth and Asphalt sounds unmistakably American. With cowpunk swagger on tracks like “Birmingham” and alt-country heartache in “Hurricane,” Hemingway draws influence from the likes of Emmylou Harris and Lone Justice while weaving in her own experience.
Ultimately, the miles traveled across Earth and Asphalt reflect an inward journey. “Despite having several geographical references, the album is more about a place in my soul than any points on the map,” says Hemingway. It explores the elusive balance between life on the road and staying grounded in a community. “I have really come to value the people who love me no matter what, and I’m trying to figure out where I belong.”
