About Scottish Chamber Orchestra: Summer Classics
Featuring works by Haydn, Capperauld and Beethoven, this programme showcases the Orchestra’s versatility and artistry in full force.
The concert begins with Haydn's Symphony No. 80 in D minor, a masterful blend of dramatic tension and playful elegance.
Next, the spotlight turns to the world premiere of Rewired, a dynamic new concerto for soprano saxophone and chamber orchestra written by SCO Associate Composer Jay Capperauld, with the outstanding Lewis Banks as soloist.
The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 in B-flat, a radiant masterpiece often described as his most joyful symphony. Overflowing with energy and wit, this work is a perfect finale to a night of captivating contrasts.
