Learn about some of the latest archaeological discoveries in Scotland, have a go with mini metal detectors, and make a clay pot to take home.
Orientation Area
Meet the team from Treasure Trove Scotland and learn about the amazing finds they've helped uncover across Scotland. If you have found a real object that you think could be of archaeological significance, you can book a free appointment to have your item assessed.
Then use our mini metal detectors to see what you can find in our sandpit – will it be trash or treasure?
Learning Centre
Time: 10:30 - 12:30 & 13:30 - 15:30
Head to the Learning Centre to make your own treasure to take home. Create a mini clay pot and decorate it with imprints from leaves and flowers foraged from our grounds.
Tools Gallery
Find out about local archaeological discoveries with Clutha Archaeology Group, get hands on with artefacts and replicas from the Archaeology Scotland Vikings Discovery Box, and learn fun facts with our team.
