The funds will be used to support the next three years of full-scale musical productions, plus redevelopment of the LAMS website and a contribution towards the LAMS ’40 years of song’ 40th anniversary celebration concert this autumn.
Vikki McIntyre, Club President, commented: “We’re delighted to receive this vital support from Border Biscuits. Over the past 40 years, our group has performed a variety of full-scale musical productions in Lanark Memorial Hall, enjoyed by thousands of people within the local community. We currently have around 40 members, varying in ages from 14 to 80. We pride ourselves on being an open and accessible group, welcoming to everyone in the community who wishes to join our cast.”
Tina Cunningham, Border Biscuits Community Support Director, said: “Following the fantastic success of last year’s CHICAGO performance at Lanark Memorial Hall, we are delighted to renew our support for Lanark Amateur Musical Society for another three years. At Border Biscuits Community Support, our focus is on supporting projects that benefit the people of Lanark or the town of Lanark as a whole and we’re excited to continue that support for Lanark Amateur Musical Society during its 40th anniversary celebrations and beyond.”
After a sell-out run of CHICAGO in March 2019, Lanark Amateur Musical Society will take to the stage with a rendition of the worldwide famous musical, HAIRSPRAY, performed in Lanark Memorial Hall from Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st March 2020.
Hairspray is an American musical comedy set in the swinging 60s, this international smash hit musical features the infectiously feel-good songs Good Morning Baltimore, Welcome to the Sixties, You Can’t Stop the Beat and Big, Blonde and Beautiful.
Lanark Amateur Musical Society have named Alzheimer Scotland as the Charity Partner for 2020’s production of Hairspray.
