Go travel for bonus points in Beat The Street East Kilbride this week
Players in the Beat the Street East Kilbride game can clock up double points this week by walking or cycling to work or school rather than taking the car.

Participants in Beat the Street East Kilbride have already racked up nearly 36,000 active travel miles and an amazing 11,212 people have signed up to take part. Taking place until 30th October, Beat the Street is transforming the town into a real-life game to help people discover the joy of active travel, and there’s still time to take part and win prizes!
There are total and average points leaderboards for schools, community teams and charities with vouchers for the teams that travel the furthest. This week, participants can score double points between 7am - 9am and 3pm - 6pm each weekday up to and including 1 October.
The leading teams currently are Crosshouse Primary School, Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School and St Kenneth’s Primary School on the total points leaderboard, with EKCC Juniors, Greenburn Primary School and Threshold on the average points leaderboard.
Beat the Street East Kilbride is being delivered by Intelligent Health on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council. The project is supported by South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture and is funded by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport.
The Chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor Robert Brown, said: “It's Go Travel week! If you normally drive to school or work, we're challenging you to ditch the car for the week and walk, cycle or roll the journey instead. There will even be a chance to earn double points while you do so!
“Well done again to everyone who is taking part in Beat the Street East Kilbride. It’s great to see people of all ages making the most of the game while it’s here to help them get used to replacing the car with active travel for shorter journeys. We’re receiving lots of positive feedback from participants who have got in touch to let us know how fun it can be making those first small steps towards a healthier lifestyle.”
