The Chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor Robert Brown, said: “The Beat the Street East Kilbride game has one again been a massive success and has encouraged people to replace those shorter car journeys with a walk or cycle instead. The competitive element of the game has really encouraged people to get out and about and as an added bonus, the community has helped Kilbryde Hospice to a £500 donation too. Although the game may be over for now, Beat the Street will continue to encourage participants to stay active and to highlight exciting local initiatives and opportunities to keep people moving.”
Beat the Street East Kilbride is being delivered by Intelligent Health on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council. The project is supported by South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture and is funded by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport.
