The East Kilbride attraction will host Festive Weekend on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December, with support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Family-favourite Macastory will return with panto inspired storytelling and music sessions. In the museum galleries visitors will be able to get hands-on with festive crafts, explore with the farm cats’ snowy trail and add wishes to the winter wishing tree.
The celebration will continue on the museum’s historic working farm where the farmhouse will be decorated for Christmas and the animals are settling in for winter. The popular attraction is home to a family of rare breed Tamworth pigs, Gina and Anna the Clydesdale Horses, Highland cattle, hens, sheep and an Ayrshire dairy herd that are milked each afternoon.
Vicky McLean, General Manager at the National Museum of Rural Life, said: “Our Festive Weekend is a lovely way for the whole family to enjoy some time together this December, bringing a little bit of extra magic to an already great day out. From entertainment and activities in the Museum to the wonderful wellie walk up to the farm, I can’t wait to celebrate the season with our visitors.”
Festive Weekend at the National Museum of Rural Life takes place from 11am-4pm on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December. The support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery means the event is free with Museum admission and the Museum’s Annual Pass, where visitors can pay once and visit all year.
For those unable to attend at the weekend, the popular Sheilings Cafe will be serving Christmas lunches Mon-Fri until 19 December, booking required.
