Jurassic Lanark Returns – Bigger, Bolder, and More Roarsome Than Ever!
Get ready for a summer of prehistoric proportions as Jurassic Lanark stomps back into town from 20 June to 10 August 2025. Organised by Discover Lanark, this family-friendly adventure invites dinosaur hunters of all ages to take on not one, but two exciting trails – all absolutely FREE.
Follow the Trail… Before They Find You!
Lanark will be overrun with some 25 giant dinosaurs hiding across town in the legendary Monster Trail through the town centre and Castlebank Park. For a bite-sized challenge, the Mini Trail takes you dinosaur-spotting through 13 dino-decorated shop windows. Complete either trail – or both – and earn your coveted Jurassic Lanark Badge, proof of your courage and dino-hunting skill.
Trail maps are available at the Tolbooth Lanark (ML11 7EX), open daily 10am–5pm, or can be downloaded online. Please note the route to and through Castlebank Park includes steep paths and some narrow or pavement-free areas.
Dino-Mite Fun Weekends – Roar with Excitement!
Every weekend from 11am to 3pm, Castlebank Park comes alive with free activities led by our Park Rangers. Kids can meet the adorable baby dinos Trixie and Tom, bust a move with new mascot Rory the Dinosaur, enjoy storytelling, and complete fun activities.
Meet the Dinosaurs
Trail-goers will encounter an array of awe-inspiring dinosaurs – from ferocious meat-eaters like Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptor to gentle giants like Brachiosaurus, Triceratops and, new for 2025, Ankylosaurus and Parasaurolophus.. Whether you're a fan of fearsome predators or plant-munching favorites, there’s a prehistoric pal waiting to be discovered.
Win a Bumper Dinosaur Bundle!
Complete a trail and enter our Prize Draw to win a dino-tastic bundle of goodies! Simply return your completed map when collecting your badge at the Tolbooth.
