New Lanark World Heritage Site has been chosen as the Scottish host of the BBC Antiques Roadshow on Thursday 28th July 2016. The Antiques Roadshow’s much- loved team of over 30 experts, including many of Britain’s leading antiques and fine arts specialists will be on hand to offer free advice and valuations to visitors, who are invited to raid their attics and bring along their family heirlooms, household treasures and car-boot sale finds to New Lanark.
It is a great, free day out and no pre-registration, tickets or appointments are required. 2016 will mark the 39th year of production for Antiques Roadshow which remains one of the BBC’s most watched factual titles with an average of six million viewers watching the current series each Sunday. Further information on attending the Antiques Roadshow is available at www.bbc.co.uk/antiquesroadshow
New Lanark Trust are looking for over 30 friendly and outgoing Volunteer Stewards to assist with event logistics to ensure the day runs as smoothly as possible. The main activities of the Volunteer Stewards will be directing visitors around New Lanark and queue management as visitors wait to have their items valued by the Antiques Roadshow’s team of specialists.
Evelyn Whitelaw, New Lanark Event & Exhibitions Offer said “The Antiques Roadshow at New Lanark on 28th July will be one of the busiest days on site and one of the biggest events we have hosted in a number of years. We’d be extremely grateful to the local community for any support in helping the day run as smoothly as possible. Being a Volunteer Steward is a great way to get involved in a worldwide recognised TV programme and it’s also great experience for anyone looking to pursue a career in the events industry. We’d welcome applications from anyone who feels they would be interested in assisting on the day.”
The Volunteer Role Description and Application Form can be downloaded from www.newlanark.org/antiquesroadshow
Completed application forms should returned no later than Sunday 12 June.
