Lanark Community Development Trust is volunteer-led charity dedicated to designing and delivering projects which have a positive economic, environmental or social benefit in the town of Lanark.
Recent projects the Development Trust has undertaken include the creation of The Cameronian Memorial Sculpture at the site of the former Winston Barracks and the development of ‘The Wallace Close’ artwork at the bottom of the High Street. Also on the High Street, the Trust manages the large digital ‘What’s On’ touchscreens, and the associated Lanark Website www.lanark.co.uk. The Trust’s flagship project is the development and management of Castlebank Horticultural Centre within Castlebank Park in Lanark. In recent years, the Trust’s ‘Lanark Festivals’ project has grown from strength to strength – with the Winterfest events programme now reaching thousands of local residents, and the annual FlowerFest in Castlebank growing in popularity every year.
Sylvia Russell, Chairman of Lanark Community Development Trust commented: “We rely on a committed membership base made up of the local community and local businesses. If you are passionate about driving positive change in Lanark, join as a member to support our organisation.”
Membership of the Trust is currently set at £1 per annum with payment with £5 being collected to cover a five-year membership period. The date for renewal of payment is 1 July. Members are invited to the Development Trust’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) which takes place in the spring. Any current members are eligible to be nominated at the AGM to join the Board of the Development Trust as a Director.
Membership of Lanark Community Development Trust is open to all who subscribe to the Memorandum and Articles of Association. There are two categories of membership:
