Final push for Beat the Street North Lanarkshire

The final push for points has started as Beat the Street, the giant game taking place across Motherwell, Belshill, Wishaw and Shotts, comes to an end.

From now until the end of the game is Go Celebrate week. To encourage players to make one final push, every Beat Box in the game will be giving out double points during the final week. The game will come to an end at 7pm on the 27th October when the leaderboard will then be taken down and the winners announced shortly after the competition.

Nearly 12,500 people have signed up and have together walked, cycled, wheeled, run and scooted an incredible 63,000 miles so far in the competition.

Knowetop Primary School leads the total points leaderboard and FRIENDS leads the average points leaderboard. The teams at the top of the total and average points leaderboard at the end of the game will win £300 in sports or book vouchers and a trophy.

Beat the Street is brought to you by North Lanarkshire Council, Smarter Choices, Smarter Places, and Paths for All. It is delivered by Intelligent Health.

Councillor Jim Logue, Leader of North Lanarkshire Council, said: “Unbelievably, we are now moving into ‘Go Celebrate Week’, the final week of Beat the Street!

“While the game encourages people to get more active, we’ve also heard about lovely experiences from players who have shared how they’ve enjoyed chatting to people at Beat Boxes and stories of families and friends spending more time together and experiencing green spaces and parts of their town that they might not have known about before.

“As the game comes to an end, we hope that people have enjoyed it and that they’ll now consider incorporating these positive lifestyle habits into their daily lives and will continue to ditch the car and walk, cycle and wheel to school or work.”
