South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture is delighted to present a special evening of storytelling and celebration at The Town House, Hamilton on 30 October 2025 featuring two of Scotland’s best-loved voices: Peter MacQueen and Coinneach MacLeod, better known as the Hebridean Baker.
Join us at 7 pm for the launch of Peter’s brand-new book, Tails of Scotland: The Story of Scottish Dogs; a beautifully illustrated celebration of fourteen of Scotland’s most iconic dog breeds. From the noble Deerhound to the spirited Westie, Peter’s journey through the hills, glens and islands of Scotland uncovers the unique stories, character and heritage of each breed, and the deep bond they share with the people who love them.
Peter, a broadcaster and writer from Oban, is known for his Gaelic television work and deep passion for Scotland’s nature, traditions and animals. With his trademark warmth and curiosity, he’ll share behind-the-scenes tales from his travels, along with heartwarming stories and a few surprises from the making of the book.
Joining Peter on stage is Coinneach MacLeod, the international bestselling author behind the Hebridean Baker cookbooks. Born and raised on the Isle of Lewis, Coinneach has won hearts around the world with his memorable recipes, folklore, and tales of island life, often served with a generous helping of humour and warmth. With four chart-topping cookbooks, a hit podcast, and a new TV series, his stories are as comforting as the bakes he’s famous for and he might even treat guests to a song or two.
Together, Peter and Coinneach will take audiences on a joyful journey across Scotland, with dogs at their heels and recipes in their hearts. Expect laughter, nostalgia, a few Hebridean surprises and a celebration of heritage, home, and the animals that bring us together.
The evening begins with a complimentary whisky or gin from the Isle of Harris Distillery, followed by a 60-minute session of stories, recipes, and conversation. Guests will also have the chance to purchase and have signed copies of Tails of Scotland, the Hebridean Baker cookbooks, and Hebridean shortbread.
This special gathering is a celebration of Scottish culture, community, and the joy of storytelling.
Tickets are £3 but limited, so book early to be part of this unique celebration!
