Strathaven Model Society Ltd operates the miniature railway in Strathaven Park in South Lanarkshire. Trains run from Easter till late September on Saturdays, weather permitting.
The steam locomotives first operating day was on 14th of May 1949. From then until now the miniature railway has had different modes of locomotive power (Steam, Petrol & Electric) with steam still being the most popular with young and old alike. The original locomotive from 1949 has been lovingly rebuilt and maintained and can still be seen on special occasions pulling passengers around the park in Strathaven.
The Wee Train as it is fondly referred to by locals celebrated 70 years of steam in the park in 2019.
Please be aware that we will need to socially distance passengers and also take details for Trace and Protect Scotland (Surname and Contact details). There will be a donation bucket out instead of ticket sales to allow social distancing.
Please bear with us at the track as we will not be able to fill carriages and your wait time could be longer than normal. Thank you ALL for the kind messages and offer of assistance, we appreciate your support.
